Do you know what the nice thing about living in Las Vegas is? You are a lot closer to the strip than anyplace else!
Living in Las Vegas is very much like living in any other major city. It is HOT in the summer, cold in the winter, and has slot machines in the supermarkets and 7-11s, but otherwise is nothing special.
Except for the 24 hour meals. You don't need a Denny's or IHOP for 24 hour food; a casino will have it, as do pubs with video gaming. You can get food very cheap at such places.
Plus if you do want to see a show, or gamble, or something, you don't have far to go to and don't have to spend money for a hotel.

I visited my sister at Las Vegas about a month ago. She live just 10 minutes away from the strip, and it was pretty cold. Houses over there is way cheaper than California. It's a pretty nice place to stay, peace and quiet and the food there is cheaper than California. BTW, Las Vegas is just not for visiting the strip, I mean there's other sides to it and there's stores around.. They basically have everything cali have, it just missing a beach.

I've lived in Las Vegas for almost 7 years now, and although I am temporarily out of state to attend law school, I did own my home in Vegas and am planning on working there and make it my permanent residence.
Vegas can be a great place to live, but you have to live in a nice area to make it worth it. I live on the far west side near Summerlin. It's awesome! Doesn't feel like a 'desert', and there plenty to do away from the Strip. I hate going to the Strip.

its uncomfortably hot in the summer but otherwise not too bad. I loved Las Vegas because of its excitement and the number of tourists from all over the world that visited there. The traffic was terrible but I never experienced anything like it before I moved there and I guess the traffic in California is (10x's ??) worse. I moved from Oregon so I missed the green. But the desert is pretty in its own way. You'll never be at a loss for places to go to eat. So it all depends on what one is looking for in a place to live.

Las Vegas is what you make of it.
We have lived here forever and it is a great town.
Thanks to the people from California coming over and wanting to be like CA. you can not smoke anywhere anymore. Not even in the bars. So many of them have come here that they have driven up the prices of our homes but that was good for the investors.
Of course people live here, who do you think works in the casinos and hotels you visit? We are one of the largest growing cities in the country and have been for years.

I've lived in Paradise Township for 25 years. That's one of the townships in which the Strip is located. (No, the Strip is not in Las Vegas. Never has been. Never will be). Raised four children here. All doing well. The casinos to me are like living in Detroit with the auto plants. They are just the "factories". I'll eat at one now and then. Maybe catch a movie or a show at one. You get five blocks either side of the Strip and you're in Middle America.

I lived in Las Vegas for 25 years. It's a concrete city. Very, very hot. Artificial. What a crazy city. So many people coming and going. Tons of crime. You have to be extremely careful. Especially if you have children. You can isolate your self in one of the many master planned communities there and have a some what normal life but everywhere you go no matter what neighborhood you live in there is gambling in every convenience store and grocery store where smoking is also allowed. I guess you either love it or don't and I didn't. I no longer live there and I couldn't be happier.

More than a million of them. Did you think all those people who work in the casinos commute from LA?

I live here. Stay away from the strip, and it's your typical town. Traffic sucks, crime is well crime, the tourists pay for most of our taxes.
