if you break your thumb do you get a cast for it

Yes. Because the bones/joint in your thumb can move when you rotate your wrist, they will cast your arm as well as your hand/thumb.

It really depends on how bad the break is. If it's lower in the thumb and it needs to be stabilized, they'll either use a hard splint, secured by an ace bandage, or a hard cast. If it's near the tip they might use this plastic cast that only prevents bending in one direction, and if it's very minor, they might use only a regular splint. Good luck!

It depends on how bad the break is, I think. Sometimes I see people wearing casts for broken thumbs that look somewhat like a wrist brace, except it covers the thumb.

When I cracked my thumb in a fall, I had a cast on from just below my elbow up to just below where my fingers bend from the palm and the thumb fully encased points out at an angle.

It depends on the type and severity of the break. My son had a broken thumb, but the doctor put some padding around it, and a metal splint, held in place with nbandages, so he could take it off to shower, etc.

No. You usually only get a padded metal thumb support taped on.

Not unless there are additional bones broke in your hand or arm..You may get a splint and some pain meds at the most..
