whenit is accepted it says "plugged in, not charging". It says this now and the battery is only 55%. ANy suggestons. I have treid to different power cords and had the same problem. The computer is approx 5 months old

This is very common among notebooks where the solder that connects the power connector to the motherboard becomes cracked through abuse (tripping over the cord or otherwise pulling it out forcefully) or overuse.

The repair is done by re-soldering the joint and many companies charge a minimum of $250 to do this. Since yours is under warranty call HP and request warranty repair.

Time to head for the shop with it.

The plugs in laptops are one of the first things to go, and remain the most sensitive to wear and tear.

After you get it fixed, be EXTREMELY cautious about unplugging it, picking it up and walking away while forgetting it is still plugged in, etc.

Those repairs can be costly. Try not to suffer it TWICE...:)

The little metal part that is in the back that the hole of the power cord goes around is probally broken/or bent.
