I'm not quite 65 yet but I think I can help you out.
Both my wife and I feel just fine with our ages. We still giggle and laugh like we did 38 yrs ago. (more when we're alone).
Mentally, outside of being a little smarter, we're about the same as when we were young...Physically is a different story.
You get much more aware of hurting yourself......You're body just can't be as agile as it was when you were in your 20's.
If YOU sprained your ankle it would be healed in about a week. If I sprained MY ankle in would be healed in 2-3 weeks!
That's pretty much the biggest difference between us and young people.
Our advantage over you is that we have experienced a lot of things and have adapted to what is worth it and what is not.
The only thing I miss is being too careful and not taking the chances I did when I was younger. I still have the need for excitement
but am smart enough to know to be careful.
THAT can be frustrating. But really it's not bad at all................I've always been treated with respect by young people. More so now than ever before.
I never would have guessed when I was young that "old" people can have as much fun as we do.....I'll tell you a little secret..
Old people are very good at hiding their silly fun side to young people. We're still the mentally young nuts that we always were, we just hide it from young people.
(We have to set some sort of example)
The brain is the same, the body is not!
Hope this gives you a little help.

I'm 75 (and a half) and have always felt great about my age.
Most young people treat me great, but I'm sure it's because I treat them with the respect that I expect to receive.
I miss romping on the floor with my great grandbabies (I think that is because I was in a serious automobile accident last year and broke my right shoulder, ribs, knee and ankle and was laid up for a year. I hope to be able to get down with them again soon)
I miss driving my car.
One thing that really bothers me is that some people treat me as though I'm not there at checkout stands when my daughter has to write my checks or swipe my cards and carry out my purchases. Some of them won't even make eye contact and this hurts. Sometimes I want to lean in and say "Look at me", but if I did this my daughter would know how I feel and might be rude to the clerk and it isn't worth. Oh well, I'll soon be up to speed again and we'll all be happy.
To be honest with you, I'm so greatful to be alive and have had such a good life, I can't complain about anything.
Good luck Sugar.

My age [65] doesn't bother me. Worked hard, played hard, loved hard, pained hard, learned hard enough to get this old! LOL
MOST young people treat me with respect. My grandchildren and their friends particularly! They even seek me out and think I'm 'cool' :-)
What I miss the most from when I was younger is physical energy and the ability to 'sustain' for long periods of time...be it walking, running, playing, staying up very late...etc. Find that my stamina isn't what it used to be; but other than that my health is good, my outlook positive, I'm told I look good and still get admiring glances and am just generally at peace and content with life.
Is it all peaches and cream? No. When I allow myself to, I fret over what may happen in the future and whether my children will be 'burdened' with extra expense with my care should I become ill or unable to care for myself.
I sometimes pass myself in the mirror and wonder who is that lady? LOL

I am 67, and my age is not an issue for me. I feel younger, and I look at least my age if not older. I eat well, I am active, and I am in good health.
Some young people treat me with disdain and scorn, others treat me with deference, still others think I'm amusing and the rest are like friends who are willing to sit down and hold a conversation.
If you promise not to laugh, I'll tell you what I miss. I miss not being able to sit on my leg or to do the lotus position. Since I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee 20 years ago, I've been unable to bend my knee as much as I once could. In fact, if I forget my limitations and sit on the couch with my knees bent, it's very painful persuading the legs to go straight.
I hope these responses are helpful to you. I wish you well in your project.

I'm OK with my age I think that for the most part I don't feel as old as I am. Young people treat me very well, some times they try to be too helpful. I was a Vol. Firefighter for 25 yrs. and I wish that I could still make the runs. I still listen to the calls and when the alarm comes in for a moment I want to jump up and run.

I feel great about my age, my overall health is good.
Young people seem to be more respectful, now than when I was younger.
I miss not being able to walk long distances, {bad knees and back due to a fall headfirst down a flight of stairs, 30 years ago}..My scooter doesn't even help me go to the beach as it gets stuck in the sand..other than that I can still do pretty much what I used to do..

I am 64 so think that I have a bit of insight too.
I am fine about my age because if you have your health and are still active, your age is just a number.
When shopping it's about 50/50. I am either invisible or treated with the utmost of respect.
Yes , I miss working and interacting with other people., and that is all I'm going to say on this matter because I am a "lady"!

I'm 68 and feel O.K. Young people treat me just fine. Especially at our minor league baseball park. They come to me frequently with questions about the game and ask me how to keep a scorecard. I did have one idiotic youngster who decided to try and rob me a few years ago in New York City, figuring I was old and vulnerable. I hope he recovered quickly from his injuries in the hospital. I wish I could have been allowed to come back off the Navy Retired List after the attack on America, but Federal law
prohibits it because of my age.
Those were all good questions. Good luck with your paper.

I don't feel old at 65. You are as old as you feel. Young
people do look up to me and respect me. Yes, there are
some things, I can't do that I could do when I was younger.
One of them is driving at night. The other is driving long
distances alone. Because I have become wiser, there are
things that I did when I was younger that I wouldn't do now.
I take better care of myself, now as many seniors of today
do. Good luck with your paper. Hope this helps.

My age is great as I can do what I choose to do and the young people treat me with respect as I deserve their respect I have been very blessed and I can do anything that I did when I was younger but since I am wiser and have more savvy I tend to limit some of the things I did in the past.{You will find that seniors of today are healthy, and very wise and help to change many things as we have the numbers and therefore the power to make changes in our country.
