As a former over the road truck driver, I have been just about everywhere in the continental US. Of all the places I've been, three places I would have to list as my all time favorite.
1. Montana... Especially western Montana. To see those snow covered mountians year-round. To smell the pine on every breath. Hear the river running (the Yellowstone is my favorite) and to just absorb the nature and beauty of it all. It's like heaven on earth, a living garden of eden.
2. Smokey Mountians of TN/NC...absolutely beautiful. The way that the fog stays and how it always has this "fresh air" smell. Very pretty in the fall when the leaves are changing colors.
3. The Upper Pennisula of MI...to see two of the Great Lakes and to be on the Saginaw Bridge, and seeing water for as far as the eye can see. To know the history and romance of the frieghters that travel through there. It's beautiful up there and particularly like traveling through there in the early fall, just when the leaves are turning colors.
Even though every place has it's own beauty, these 3 places hold a special place in my memory.

Oh, goodness... the most beautiful? Um... there are a couple.
There is a huge sand dune overlooking the ocean at Rainbow Beach in Queensland, Australia. When I stand in the middle of it, alone, and there are no other people in easy sight, I feel... at peace with the universe. At peace with God. One with nature, and very much a part of the world as it was meant to be.
There's also a place in Victoria, Australia, on the Great Ocean Road called The Twelve Apostles, great fossilized sand structures jutting out of the ocean that have been there for thousands and thousands of years. When I've been there, I just think how amazing it is to see in person the wonder of God.
Oh, and does this sound crazy? But living overseas now, the thing that choked me up the most was coming back and going to Washington DC and seeing Arlington National Cemetery and the beautiful, uncomparable American flag. The honor, the love, the pride, the patriotism... it just fills me with so much peace and love for my country. I feel a real stirring inside me, that the US truly is the place that I will always honor and call home.
Hope this helps!

The most beautiful place I've been to would be my backyard when it rains. I honestly don't know why, but ever since I was a little girl I'd lie in my backyard for hours if it were raining, just thinking. It's not beautiful to most people, probably, but it is to me. Rain is kind of like my salvation.

One afternoon; on the way to Alaska, I had stopped in a small town that had a Garage, and while the mechanic was working on my truck I walked outside ....and Stared at that Beautiful Mountain! the top was covered in ice and /or snow, and the setting sunlight reflected off it Beautifully! Seeing THAT, I felt a loosening of tension, and an uplifting feeling at that time. [Remembering......makes me want to go see it Again!]

The red rooftops of Berlin as I fly ever nearer my beloved city tell me my soul is almost home. To fill my lungs with the aroma of a city, to fill my eyes with its untold beauty, to fill my senses with life so dear is all I ever need to feel at the center of my being.

upstate new york, when you wake up and everything is completely blanketed in snow, and the world is quiet and completely still, and you could be the only person on earth, until you turn around, and there's a fire and hot cocoa and a good book waiting for you when you take your place with the people you love.
