There's 2 ways this could happen
1) U'r team plays a one game playoff for a real playoff position
2) u play for a team & were traded to a team that played one more game that the team u left
all of which that player would have to play all the games...duh

If two teams are tied they play a 163rd to break up the tie and it counts for the final record. Then playoffs on top of that.

I suppose if you get traded mid-season where the team you are traded from has played more games than the team you are going to. Then you will have played in more than 162 games...
