I'm writting an essay about a dude who harmed his friend's eyes with acid during his chemistry class.

anyone know any type of acid that would harm your eyes (pretty badly) that is used in school?

Yes. Hydrochloric, Sulfuric, Nitric, Acetic. Need any more. Those are all commonly used in high school chemistry and all would be damaging to the eyes, especially Sulfuric

When you are in a chemistry lab, the use of safety goggles is a must. All acids can harm eyes.

Wash your eyes with plenty of cold water immediately. Continue for about 5 minutes. Acids are water soluble and they can be washed away with water.

If you have severe pain, 5 minutes after washing, go to your doctor or the emergency room. The longer the acid stays in the eye, the greater the harm it can do to the eyes.

If you want to make your story even more gruesome, you could use HF. HF is very corrosive, can eat through bone, and even cause death.
