Natural gas has no odor, and is colorless.
Certain chemicals are put in it to alert people that there is a leak.
It is an unmistakable odor. To me, it smells like dill pickle juice.
If you even SUSPECT a natural gas leak, call the local gas supplier utility immediately so they can do a thorough inspection. You don't want to be overwhelmed by gas fumes, and there is risk of explosion under certain conditions, such as the presence of spark or flame.

In theme with the other colorful answers there is one more... take an egg and crack it exposing the inside but not letting it all fall out. Than leave it exposed to sun or just room temperature. In a couple of days 2-5 disturb it.... Thats the smell
Good Luck!
