Most shirt that I try on do not seem to fit me right. They always seem to hang off in the back, like they fit around my upper body but seem to be too big on the bottom for my waist. Hollister shirts seem to fit me well but I don't like wearing Hollister. I want to buy some nice Polo or Lacoste shirts but they all seem to do this. Is it my posture, and is this common?

Try Van Huesan they usually fit a little snugger. I sold clothing for many years as a manager of mens and boys clothing. You can also get any shirt tailered.

Shirts are designed to fit the shoulders and sleeve length, first. Waist sizes vary as well, but most don't account for it.
You need slim cut shirts. Go to a large, slightly upscale department store, like Macys or Nordstrum, and try on different brands until you find one that fits well.
Don't worry about the brand; worry about the fit.
[ yes, this is very common among slim guys with shoulders ].
