If this question is for school, read the Constitution.
The U.S. does not now, nor has it ever, had a democracy, which is from the Greek meaning "people govern". We were set up as a representative type govenment (Republican), but the Supreme Court has refused to do what the Constitution claims (as is evidenced by "gay" rights, Chicano rights, black rights, women's rights, etc.) and by declaring the murder of innocent babies to be "women's rights"
If a right does not apply to everyone, it is not a right, but a favor.
