1.Because that most software has automatically function. When you go to the system they would automatically run in the background. So you always use the software is more convenient. But it will also cause unnecessary troubles. There is so much software when you start your PC that the speed will slow down and they can impact of your normal use.
2.because that several different applications will produce some temporary files by using the Windows.The system will save some temporary files in System disk after you visit the web page.If you don’t clean up temporary files folder in time, the disk space will be occupied by these temporary files and the speed will be dropped. What is more important is that a lot of virus and malicious procedures producing in the temporary files cause your systems to stop working.

Malware can slow down the system, Its important t update and scan with efficient AV programs.
Insfficient RAM can slow down programs
HDD is most important, if its diseased with fragmentation, has not been cleaned of junk for long, the system will slow down significantly. Its also important to always have some free space on the drive.

It could be because of many things. Too many temp files, Too many temp Internet files, your C: drive may need defragmenting. You could have spy-ware/mal-ware, or a virus, not enough free space for the operating system.

Or the number one cause for a Windows system to slow down, The updates from Microsoft. They seem to think that a computer should start out fast and then start slowing down, that way when the new computers come out you want to go out and get a faster PC and they get to sell another operating system, again.

turn off ONLY those items that you yourself have added
You may need to start something later if it happens to be a service that is needed for a program or app.

What's a modem initialization string?
Before your modem software dials a phone number, it initializes (inits) the modem by sending it a series (string) of commands, typically Hayes commands. These commands configure the modem's options for things like error correction, data compression, flow control, and many other parameters. The modem manual should list the Hayes commands the modem recognizes, and what effect each command has.
The important thing about modem init strings is that having the right one often makes the difference between connecting and not. Init strings are fairly specific to each modem. The string that made your friend's modem fly may not work at all for your modem.
Not all programs use simple init strings. Some use settings files, such as Windows 95 .inf files, Mac CCL modem scripts, etc.
Tip: You may also want to try one of these generic init strings:

* AT&F
* AT&F1
* AT&F&C1&D2
* AT&F1&C1&D2

modem strings:
http://www.west.net/~jay/modem/...

Tip 2: For K56flex modems, try one of these generic init strings:

* AT&F+MS=56
* AT&F+MS=56S202=32
* AT&F1+MS=56
* AT&F1+MS=56S202=32

Where do I put the modem init string?

start
control panel
phone & modem options
modems
properties
advanced
INITIALIZATION

enter initialization string in box provided
close and reboot

in addition,install RegSeeker and delete obsolete entries from here

Using a registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant,corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries.You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

Your computer slows down due to too many things to mention, but go to the explorer properties and delete all files. cookies, & history. Then go to my computer and open this up, then go to properties and do a disk clean, which will free up a lot of space for you. Make sure you have sufficient memory to accomodate your needs on the compter. If you have your unit set to hybernate, uncheck that box as to not delete the files for that. I'm talking in regards to vista as well as xp.Don't know which you have, but this will help your computer breath a little better!..Did mine!

Because:

a) Your antivirus software has eaten up too much memory.
Only ever have one antivirus program running.
b) Your puter is loaded with tons of spyware and trojans.
c) You have too many programs running in the background.

I would advise that you download 'Spybot - Search and Destroy' to destroy viruses and spyware (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=lst-0-1)

Defrag your hard drive and remove all unecessary programs via your Control Panel / Install-Uninstall menu.
