y > 3 And y < -3
range of y = (-infinity, -3) (3, +infinity)

6.)
|-3y| < 18
-3y < 18 And -3y > -1*18
y > 18/-3 And -3y > -18

y > -6 And y < 6
range of y = (-6, 6)

|y|>3 This can be rewritten as -3 >y > 3

|-3y|<18
-18<-3y<18
-6 <-y < 6
6>y>-6

|x-1|<4
-4 < x-1 < 4
-3
|x+5/ 3| <2
-2 < (x+5)/3 <2
-6 < x+5 <12
-11 < x <7

This is the easiest way to handle these problems.
