This home has been for sale for the past two years, but hasn't sold because the realtor says it is not possible to move. It is an A frame building, 1700 sq feet. I am working with a very small budget (single income, five kids)and want to put it on a piece of property at minimal cost. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks for any information you can share.

My neighbor use to move houses and it is so unpredictable because there are so many things that can go wrong. I know you probably fell in love with the house but to move it will cost so much versus leaving it where it stands (if you can) Oh, by the way, the house would be cut into two pieces (like a first and second floor) and it will cost you if they have to cut the power to the powerlines before they proceed. Also they would have to check on when they could move the house, possibly early am hours so that traffic is not interrupted.

Also, depending on the distance of the move, you pay per mile, extra man power, powerlines, telephone poles, etc.

I wish you the best of luck, my friend

It can't be moved without cutting it up unless the route doesn't require it to go under an overpass....as I remember, most overpasses are about 15' to 18' high.

If you're working on a small budget (you didn't say what the budget is), I'd say look for another home. Moving a home is seldom inexpensive and is considerably more expensive when the home must be cut up and then re-attached at the new site.

Try the county: I had heard that it costs as much to move as to buy but, it must vary by area so check for prices-I know it will require a permit (which might get you a route at no cost, they want you to avoid the power lines too! I'd look for professional house movers too! Good Luck wrong- GOOD LUCK! Sounds like a big project!

Sure it can be moved. But the real question is how much do you want to pay?

Moving houses can be very expensive. You should contact a professional house mover and get a quote. If you have a limited budget, this probably isn't for you.
