Let the page numbers be x and x+1
Therefore
x(x+1)=240
x^2+x-240=0
(x+16)(x-15)=0
Rejecting the negative value of x,we get x=15
Therefore,the page nos are 15 and 16

If the pages are facing, then the page numbers are consecutive. If p is one page no. then p+1 is the next.
We are told the product is 240
p(p+1)=240
p^2+p-240=0
(p+16)(p-15)=0
Now for (p+16)(p-15) to equal zero, at least one of
(p+16)(p-15) must be zero.
If p+16=0, p=-16
If p-15=0,p=15
Can't have -16 pages (maybe the book is upside down!), so p=15, p+1=16
Pages are 15 and 16.

a x b = 240
since they're page numbers on two facing pages, then they're consecutive numbers, that is, they come after one another
thus if a is one of the numbers then the next page number must be a + 1 since its on just the next page
thus you have your equation
(a + 1) (a) = 240
a^2 + a = 240
a^2 + a - 240 = 0
(a - 15) (a + 16) = 0
a = 15, -16
a page number cannot be negative so a must be equal to 15
a = 15
a + 1 = 15 + 1 = 16
thus the two numbers are 15 and 16

The pages face eachother, so that means there are simply consecutive pages. So let x be the first page, and then x+1 would be the second page. Since the product is 240 we get that,
x(x+1)=240
Then just solve for x.

Unfortunately, even though 15 and 16 do not face each other, those are the only numbers that I know of that multiply to 240. I tend to agree with the others that have responded.

x(x+1)=240
x^+x-240 = 0
(x+16)(x-15) = 240
x = 15
x+1 = 16
But this is impossible since the left page is always even and the right page is always odd.
Thus there is no solution
