I just had my brakes replaced a few months ago, and about 6 weeks ago I hit a tire on the freeway going 50 miles per hour. The abs light and check brakes light both came on and have been on since. I took my truck to les schwab and they said they cannot find anything wrong, but when I apply the brakes about 75% of the time it make a noise that sounds much like someone running over a soda can and crushing it. The faster I am going when I apply the brakes the faster the noise repeats, slower speed = slower repeat of noise. The brakes seem to work fine. Any Ideas? Should I take it in to the dealer? Its a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT. So its a big heavy vehicle and I am extremly nervous about this.

ok take it to a repair shop , tell them the story and they will scan the abs system there is a code stored for the Amber light to be on and the red ones on because you don't have full abs control. the soda can sound sounds like a backing plate maybe bent rubbing the rotors and or on some GM vehicals when the Abs system goes down there is a scaping sound from the left front wheel

By all means, take your ride to the dealer and have them check it out. It sounds like you damaged the wiring for the ABS sensor and that is what has turned the lites on... As long as the ABS lite is on, the ABS system will not function. Just regular brake system only.. when you do get to the dealer, explain that you have possible damage to the ABS system from an impact on the road.. The first thing they should do is use a scan tool to verify why the lite is on. That will get them looking in the right area. Good luck!

If you are extremly nervous I think you know the answer. Take it to the dealer. You damaged something underneath and it might not be just the brakes. My buddy hit a tire on the interstate and blew out both tires on the passenger side. We replaced one tire and put on the spare to get him home. The car was drivable but made all sorts of noise. A closer inspection showed major damage to the front suspension. Go to the dealer for an analysis.

Has absolutely everyone heard correct to the experiments with the rhesus monkeys? They rigged up cages so the monkeys ought to make certain one yet another, and one in all them had to press a button to get nutrition. every time he pressed the button, one in all the different monkeys could be bowled over. while they realised this, countless the monkeys starved themselves (for as much as twelve days) to avert yet another monkey from getting a brief marvel. If that may no longer altruistic adventure, i do no longer understand what's. In different words, "aww...". Any common survival income gained by using holding a %. member might desire to be forfeited by using having to stand in a limited-get admission to highway and might charge autos to do it. in spite of this i might say it replaced into extra a %. element than a filial loyalty element. lots of people have self belief that love is likewise a survival mechanism, or a minimum of something that generally proves smart.

That noise when braking is worrisome.
It indicates brake / wheel damage.
Didn't 'Schwab` do a road test?
Get it checked again,
by some-one who cares.
