I saw this movie in the mid 90's and only remember a few scenes. It may be a TV movie. The main character somehow gets stuck in an alternate dimension where he must integrate himself into the community (already occupied by the same characters as his original life). This distopian community has developed a sadistic lottery system that rallies the citizens to kill random people based on a number out of a hat. There are some government agents that take away a fat man and put him in a cabin with a gun in the drawer because being fat is illegal. This is driving me CRAZY, what is this movie?!? any help is appreciated!!!!! I don't know any actors names.

I have read a lot about both Sliders and looked into The Lottery (1996) and although they have a similar concept, they just don't look right. The more details I can remember is that the protagonist does NOT get selected in the lottery it is a teenager who gets hunted down and beaten to death with baseball bats. The cabin the fat guy is sent to has a bunch of chubby kids there. The gun in the drawer was there to give the people the option of suicide. Thanks!

it reminds me of an episode of sliders. although, not exactly..
I remember they have an atm that despenses money.. the more you take, the higher the chance that you will get chosen for the lottery.. the lottery is a means of population control, you can get whatever you want for 24 hours, and your family gets the money when you die... but, they kill you after the lottery winners ball. It may be that they used the plot from another movie as inspiration for this episode, but I don't recall a movie like that..

I can't remember exactly. But it might be a tv movie called "The Lottery" which is based on a short story by the same name. It's not exactly as you describe, but pretty close.

yes that definately sounds like that episode of Sliders. I'd have to agree that that's what it is.
