I work in a childcare center and too many parents medicate their children for no good reason at all. While the child is in YOUR care I would steer clear of the Tylenol if you honestly believe the child doesn't need it! If I were you I would just ask your friend why she feels the need to give her baby tylenol when she doesn't need it? Say that you are concerned and that you think she should really call her doctor before giving the baby Tylenol. Good Luck!

Tylenol can be dangerous if given too often and should never be used just because a baby is fussy. I am sad to hear a mother would do this. My baby did not move up to the .8 until she was 7 months old and that was based on her weight. She could be giving the baby a dangerous level of tylenol if she uses it every day. Either talk some sense into her or call social services. This is serious.

Tylenol is NOT a cure all any type of pain reliever used in excess can cause kidney/liver damage.. It's just NOT necessary... She may be teething maybe try orajel or a teething ring or maybe some rocking.. I would seriously tell your friend to seek the help of her pediatrician to see if something else might be wrong with the baby if she is fussy all the time... Try a warm bath or burping....Also ask her how long she's been giving the baby tylenol... . Good luck...

Well, if the baby absolutely needs the tylenol then it should be based on her weight. The doctor can tell her how much the correct amount to give. And, she shouldn't be giving the baby medicine unless she absolutely needs it.

I wouldn't tell her anything. I'd be making a phone call to social services, this girl obviously has no parenting skills and is attempting to drug this poor baby so she doesn't have to deal with the child's needs. She is setting this baby up for liver and kidney problems later on in life by doing so.

I'm not sure how you could bring it up to her without pissing her off, but at 4 months she should only be getting .4 - and only when necessary. Is her tummy hard between cries? It could be gas. It also isn't uncommon for babies to teeth as early as 3 months, in which case the CORRECT dose may be warranted.

The Pediatrician told us 0.4 ml. I think I would ask her why she was giving the baby meds if they are not sick. Sounds like shes a little lazy and just doesn't want to deal with the baby.

I don't think that is the correct dosage for a 4mth old. I think it is too much. Besides, if there's nothing wrong w/ her, WHY give it? Not sure how good of friends you are w/ this woman but...I would say something to her.
