It is probably just plugged or jammed. make sure the switch is OFF! Then reach inside the opening from the top and fish out as many of the larger pieces that you can get out.
Then, there should be a small "L" shaped key under the sink that fits into a hole in the center of the bottom of the disposal, from underneath. Make sure the switch is OFF! Then put the key in the hole and work it back and forth until the disposal turns freely. Turn the water on and hit the switch. It should work now. You may have to repeat the process several times to get everything unjammed and ground up where it will flow through. Make sure there is enough water flow.

cut the Maine circuit breaker that controls power to your disposal. you will need a pipe wrench and gloves and a bucket. The water line should run from drain on first sink down and straight across into the garbage disposal. You will need to take the line loose at the main sink then unattache the connector to the straight pipe that runs into the disposal, this should leave you about six or eight inches of pipe sticking out of disposal. but place bucket under area before you remove pipes or what ever has it stopped up is going to spill out under your sink, use a flash light and look into pipe if you don't see anything, try running water through sink and into bucket. Other than this I don't know how to help, it's the only thing i can think of, but I'm a DIY person so not a pro. You may also want to try Drano.

In the future, get out of the habit of using the disposal as a garbage collector. The typical residential disposal is intended to grind the stuff that doesn't scrape off the plate. They are just not power full enough.

Check first to make sure there isn't a metal object that fell in. That will keep it from functioning. Pull out all the food that hasn't ground and then take a magnet and try to locate the metal. If that is not the case, you will need a new disposal.

It sounds like something solid has jammed it. You will need to reach inside and pull everything out. Be sure it is turned off before reaching inside. Good luck.

there is an allen key you can get if you don't have one that moves the motor manually from underneath.
this happens from time to time as food acts like glue when it dries up.
