One is trying, but his efforts are for nothing, as I simply don't care. Wish he'd get that message. And yes, he is a user on here.

My mother-in-law is always trying to cause problems,usually by attempting foment friction between my wife and I,but overall my life is good and so far "grandma" isn't making a lot of headway. If someone is genuinely succeeding in making you miserable you have to cut that person out of your life and keep it that way. Repudiate her completely. Period.

Yes, my upstairs neighbors they have no respect for the downstairs tenants and let their child run around at all hours of the night keeping up from getting sleep. We are getting ready to close on a house, so we are just taking it a step at a time.

first off, i dont really think someone can MAKE our lives miserable... WE decide the impact we are going to another person's actions to have on us...
BUT -- i agree that there are times when the person with whom we have conflict is very difficult to avoid, like with me & my mother. our conflict is not only impacting my life, but my son's -- who is the reason i do not just cut off ties with her. otherwise i would greatly reduce her impact/control.
