At school, I am ALWAYS comparing myself to other people. Like if someone else gets a higher mark then me, instantly the first thought in my mind is I am stupid and they are smarter then me. I have thought like this my whole life and it is quite destructive. How can I change this? I don't really try to compare myself to other people it just comes naturally but I want to stop. How can I stop!?

You have to look at yourself and realise that you have good qualities but there's always going to be someone smarter, prettier, etc, etc. And, you should accept that. It's a part of life and to tell you the truth, it has close to no affect on the person you are or the kind of life you lead. Everyone gets married, everyone works.
But I think it's natural to feel like this a little bit because everyone seems to flaunt their talents. And everyone else, seems to want to grip onto people like that. But there is geniune people in the world.

Realize you're comparing your insides to others outside. You don't know all the answers regarding another person i.e., did that person get a higher mark by cheating, was they up all night studying for that grade so not to get a beating for a lower grade, etc. I use to do this when I was younger. I broke the habit by telling myself, 'You do not know all the information, so stop it'.

You seen to be compairing yourself to those you think are better than you and not those who are worse than you....
If you don't feel superior to those who do not do as well as you, think about why you seel inferior to those who do better than you...............In either case, you don't know the time and energy applied by the others...........
Hopefully you will grow out of it.

know that every person is unique and ordinary at the same time. therefore it's pointless to compare .

I never had that problem. I always knew I was "one of a kind", and am just... *DIFFERENT*! I don't fit into any mold, and would never try.
