I have his book, "New Guide to Science," in front of me, I have gone over every section when he dwells on energy and its use, there is no mention of the state of the supply of energy in the year 2000.

Asimov "predicted" a number of things about the future (he wrote starting in 1939 until his death in 1992. And I read all his science articles and most of his sci-fi, and I don't remember specific predictions about energy in 2000.
