I thought he said, "Randy Moss, Grand University." But I backed up and put on the closed captions and it read: "Randy Moss, Brant University." What's the deal? He went to Marshall right?

I did another rewind. He does say Grand University, although the captions did read Brant University. I think that was from Dante Stallworth saying Brant High School, even though he went to Tennessee.

LOL.....I think he was trying to be a smart ***..because to me it sounded like "Randy Moss...Brand University"...but i just re winded it on my DVR and he said "Randy Moss...*pause* Rand University"....such a nut.
But then I did it with the captions and it said "Brant University".

From what I've heard from my dad said sometimes they (the players) give "shout-outs" to people and their schools...so maybe that was it.

Randy Moss answered, "Rand University" He was born in Rand, West Virginia. I'm guessing he thought his answer was clever because it contained the name of his hometown as well as a play on his own name "Randy"
Randy Moss, of course, did go to Marshall University, and his receptions from Chad Pennington, the then-MU quarterback were nothing short of miraculous. He left Marshall after two years and was drafted in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
Concerning the "Rand" comment, as Marshall Alumni, I was furious, and frankly hurt, that Randy wouldn't acknowledge Marshall!

I thought he said "Rand University" too. According to his bio, he was born and raised in Rand, West Virginia. I wonder if it was a shout out to the hometown.

What I find most amazing is that no one at NBC, including Madden or Michaels, caught it and followed up on it. Good job guys!
