Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas guitar chords ?

Alvin and the chipmunks christmas song, the internet indicates a simple C D G chord progression. But when i play it to the record it don't sound right. I have changed the Capo at all positions and still it does not sound right. any Ideas ?

If I remember correctly, and since this goes back forty years, I may not.... they sped up the vocals for the chipmunks... it's quite possible, technology today being what it wasn't back then, that they also sped up at least a part of the guitar chords, making them sound different.
