(PS, this was really, really anticlimactic for me. i expected a HUGE chunk of additional details!)

Yes, the more details you have, the more likely you are to give the exact answer they are searching for.
For instance if someone wants to know a song, it is better if they tell you male or female singer, fast or slow, a few of the lyrics, possibly whether it is new or old or which decade it came from.

Not usually because I don't want to take the time to read all the details. I also don't like questions where the person asking just goes on and on, without any punctuation in their question.

No I try to avoid the really, really long details and get straight to the point.

Yes, why not? They took that long to type out their questions asking for a voice to be heard, it would be nice if someone replied.
BUT... there are times when I just have to stop reading because it gets too Jerry Springer.

Sometimes I do, but usually I get tired of reading and end up not answering, because I don't have all the info and might've missed something.

I do answer questions that are like that if I know the answer. I mean they are asking for help. So yes. Why wouldn't you want to help?
