Take the baby to the doctor as soon as possible. In the meantime give him lots and lots of water.

hmmm, well he's very much constipated....it could be because of several things...has his diet changed? like has he switched from breastmilk to formula? has he switched from one formula to a new one? has he already been started on whole milk? has he eaten any new baby foods for the first time? changes in the food he's eating can cause constipation...so if that's the case, then mix it up what your feeding him. Some times when you introduce new foods, it throws off the baby's digestive track.
You can up the fluid intake....Babies can have 2 to 4 oz. of water, (over 6 months old) and if that doesn't help, then try mixing half juice and half water and maybe the juice will get things going.
You can also offer fruits....peaches, prunes, or pears. Things that are high in fiber. Barley cereal is also really good, too.
Or you can lay him on his back and do the bicycle thing with his legs, sometimes movement helps things, too!
It also wouldn't hurt to put a call into the dr.'s office, I kow my son's dr's office has an after hours number that I've called plenty of times, so you can call during the day or the after hours number. At least let them know what's going on...don't let it continue for too long though! That poor baby is all plugged up and probably terribly uncomfortable!
Good luck!

make sure he's eating plenty of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables) and drinking plenty of water. avoid dairy products (milk and cheeses). Avoid excessive juices (full of sugar with no real nutrition) Do NOT feed child a low-fat diet, and talk to your pediatrician about how to solve this in the long-term. Terrible constipation that makes his anus bleed can also be damaging his intestines and inhibiting his ability to absorb nutrients from his foods. Avoid handling the problem with stool softeners that can cause long-term damage to his intestinal muscles and cause more problems down the line. Constipation isn't normal, it is caused by nutritional problems that need to be addressed, not only for the child's comfort but because the child has the right to grow up with a healthy body. Adults need to be making better decisions for him; This isn't fair to the child at all.

Come on folks.......This is too simple for words. WATER,WATER,WATER
Lots of people will probably tell you that water in a babies diet is not necessary, but I assure you, it is. The bleeding is caused by the fact that he gets too constipated and probably becomes impacted. I would start by giving him half water - half apple juice to soften his stools, and then just make sure that he gets water every day. Another way to alleviate the constipation, is to give him a teaspoonful of White Karo Syrup
it is a natural laxative for babies and will not cause him to get a lot of gas or cramping. Good Luck

call the doctor... there are medications that they can use to help soften his stools. You could try some baby prune juice in a sippy (dilute with a bit of water) to help him out. Try not to feed him the things that constipate him either. His doctor can give you specifics about what's ok to feed him and what will make it worse.

Check with a doctor for immediate help, but then try feeding more fruit and other foods that help soften the stool.

My mother n law told me me to try giving my kids Karo syrup in a bottle or sippy cup but give them the dark syrup because it has a natural laxtive in it. If that don't work call the doctor and tell them about the bleeding
