To write a couple of sentences each would be doing your homework for you. You could easily do a Google or Yahoo search to do this.

OK, I'll give you hints, but "NEAN" is right. I just can't resist the fun. I've had a magazine article published on this period - specifically about the "Chesapeake Affair" of 1807 which is a central point worth your time looking into. [COMMAND magazine Feb. 1998]
#1 - British are busy fighting Napoleon. They could care less about our complaints that they board our ships and take British Navy deserters back. America is like a gnat biting at the giant. Britain has 120,000 men fighting at sea on her warships and half of them were "impressed" - simply abducted - from English pubs. Our complaints seem trivial to them.
#2Jefferson wants a response to the "Chesapeake Affair" of June 22, 1807 when a British frigate fires three volleys into an American frigate ten miles off the shore of Virginia just to take back three men who may have been deserters. Many hotheads in American wanted war with Britain in 1807 because of this outrage. We were not even at war. It was a sneak attack. We Americans hate those.
#3 Jefferson has weakened the US Navy as president. All he can do to hit back at Britain is try to hurt them in the pocketbook by blocking trade.
#4 War is declared AFTER the British have already taken the American complaints seriously and offered a settlement - BUT - it takes at least two months for word from England to reach America, so the war starts unnecessarily.
#5 Tecumseh's death in 1813 signals the END of Indian wars east of the Mississippi River. He was an amazing person worth studying. But there were none like him to promote a united Indian cause after his death.
#6 The British take our capital in 1814 without a major fight, and they use just a small amphibious army released from the wars with Napoleon to do it. They could have defeated America easily in the War of 1812, but they were busy with Napoleon and we were just a side show. We weren't worth the effort then.
#7 People who complain about the South seceding in 1860-61 should recall that New England wanted to secede from the Union at the time of the 1812 War because the war hurt their businesses and emptied their precious pockets.

Andrew, these look like history questions given to you by a history teacher for you to look up and answer accordingly. If we take all the fun for ourselves and answer these essay questions for you, what fun will you have? Maybe an A, but it would be a very empty A, one which the person supplying you with all the answers should be receiving. I did my work in school, including obtaining a B.A. in journalism with a history minor. Your turn - history can be fascinating if you just let yourself think of it as such.
