NOO. You're beta will fight with other males and some females. So your goldfish will end up very dead very quickly!!!! I have owned many many betas (beautiful fish and very low maintenance) but cant put them in the same tank with others. Although putting a mirror up to the tank can be quite fun..although kind of mean i guess..lol!!

No, for the simple reason that goldfish are coldwater fish and bettas are tropical fish. Forget aggression - they require completely different water conditions and thus cannot be kept in the same water. Goldfish need cold water, while warm water is essential for bettas to thrive. If you adjust the temperature to be suitable for your goldfish, the betta will suffer; if you adjust the temperature to be suitable for your betta, the goldfish will suffer.

Secondly, goldfish cannot go in a small tank. Goldfish need at least 20 gallons each. Comet goldfish should not be kept in aquariums at all and should be kept in ponds instead. Most goldfish get over a foot long, but they become stunted when they are placed in tanks too small, that's why people don't realise how large they can get.

I have kept female bettas with my bubble eyes for over a year with no problems. A friend of mine kept bettas with Pearlscales and Lionheads, also with no problems. Bettas are tropical though, so make sure the water temperature is fairly high (80s). The goldfish are too big (even when young) for the bettas to harass. Any goldfish with a wild-type body (Commons, Shubunkins or Comets) may be a danger to bettas. But exotic goldfish should live with them just fine.

Unfortunately very hard to tell how they would get along. Although male Beta's are very pugnacious with their own species they will sometimes make for acceptable community tank-mates. This can depend greatly upon the size of the tank, how much cover there is for hiding, and what other fish are in the tank. Even if they do get along ok, you will have problems with the different tank conditions that they require and also you may find that when Beta's coexist with less picky eaters, they get left out at feeding time. Your Goldfish would be better off with other colder water fish like Danios or White Clouds.
