No. I have 3 kids and I wouldn't be so quirky to take them so un-seriously to name them after players who don't care about myself or my kids. I don't respect any player enough to give them the honor of naming my child, of all things, after them. Being a parent is a serious thing-and so is naming your kids. Baseball is a game I have loved for 25 of my 32 years. But it is just a game-just players. Name your kids after real heroes. These guys are not heroes. Pat Tillman, Todd beamer-those kind of people are heroes.

I only have one living child and he's got a family name. If I had a willing participant in having additional children, I might consider it. As of right now, I haven't found a way of having kids on my own - something about plumbing issues! LOL

My son is named Camden after Oriole Park at Camden Yards and I fought VERY hard to name my daughter Ripken Elise after Cal Ripken, Jr. but was veto'd by my husband (I'm convinced it's because he's a Red Sox fan...)

I'm not a personal fan of naming children after other people, famous or not. It is far better to give them their own identity with a name they will appreciate and be proud of over the long term.

Well, I named my oldest son after my favorite race car driver (my husband still doesn't have a clue and my son is grown up)

I named my cat AllStar after The Oakland A's of - 1973 (I couldnt decide which one so I name him after all of them)

My friend named her dog Mattie after Don Mattingly.

If me and my hubby can agree on one. It would have to sound right with his last name.. so that might be kinda hard. Maybe as a middle name it can be Ian after Ian Kinsler or Nick after Nick Swisher.

I don't know if I will be interested in having kids. However, if I was to have a son, I would name him Donnie for my all time favorite player, Don Mattingly.

I didn't name my son after a ball player but I did name my canary Mickey (Mantle was my husband's idol and I had the pleasure of meeting him twice)......................I like your idea of Maris and DiMaggio.............Very original............CAT
