I was a babysitter...I had about 6 families I sat for. That would be considered irresponsible parenting today, huh?

I was 14, and I had a part-time job as a paper "person". I helped a friend cover someone else's route one Sunday morning, and the manager needed someone to do the route on my own street, so she asked me and I took her up on it. I had to wake up at 4:00am to grab the papers, stuff 1/2 of them in my bag, walked up the street on one side, came down the street on the other side, picked up the rest of the papers, and finished the rest of the route. I finished by about 6:00am, then was off to school by bus for an A-period at 7:30am. I remember that all the kids on my block were sooooo jealous because they wanted to have my job.

I kept that job until I was 16, when I got a (real?) job at Chuck E. Cheese's. I just couldn't do the early job, then school, then band practice, then a job after school and still get through my day without falling asleep. Go figure.

I was ten years old, shinning shoes for the business world, organized the business and then threw a strike. All of the clients were attorneys and judegs who lokes have shinny shoes for court, and throwing a strike, made for a lot of ill tempered folks, so to get back the service that they all loved and depended upon, they agreed to pay me my prices of $1.50 per shoe shine. A profit margin of $1.00 per shine, is't America Great?
