I mean, I can understand why you think homosexuals might be strange or different, but what's the big deal? Even if you don't think that its good, or you religion prohobits it, why not allow it? How is it affecting you? I mean, it's noty hurting you exactly. And America has a seperation of church and state. It just seems to me like something very similar to blacks and whites not being able to marry. I don't think it should be banned. I also don't understand the arguement that it spreads HIV. Gays currently do not have the highest rate of HIV and AIDS. In fact, marriage would reduce the chance of infedelity as well. And adopting children? Would you rather children grow up in an orphanage than with two loving parents? SOme adopted kids have single parents. I honestly don't understand.

First, what in the hell does this have to do with adolescence?
Second, gay couples have as much right to the misery and pain and love and family as anyone else, so they can and should get married. There is no reason why a gay couple should be looked at any different than any other couple. Two people love each other, they get married, and have kids. What are they doing wrong? Whom are they hurting? No one. They are just as capable of parenting and raising a family as anyone else, and perhaps have more of an advantage because they have experienced much more of the world than others, and have seen different sides to life and the way humans can treat each other.

One of the main problems is calling it a marriage. People with prejudices jump on that word all of the time. It is mainly a union of two people, regardless of who or what they are. It is done for financial reasons, not sexual or whatever other reason people think.
There will always be those who are against anything with the word homosexual in it, just as some people feared Kennedy being elected years ago because he was Catholic. Beliefs die hard.
Adopted children need two people who love them, regardless of their sex. My son grew up without much attention from his father, and many black children do not have the African-American dad in the home, etc. Didn't affect my child in a permanent way, although he had to find his own way with what is required for a male child to be happy: ie. sports, etc. He is now happily married, and the ideal father, giving his child what he didn't get. Many children are raised by a grandmother and a mother; not lesbians, of course, but the influence of 2 women, and they grow up to be OK (whatever that means in today's world). When a mother dies, some fathers do not immediately run out and replace the woman; he raises the child, with many buddies around the house at times.
And no child should be a voyeur of the bedroom, regardless of type of marriage, union, etc. this should be a private area, with or without a spouse or partner.

HIV has nothing to do with homosexuality; that shows a person's lack of education if they still think that.

So, let's all think of a better name for two people being joined legally. And then let's analyze why so many hetersexuals live together and think that is OK, if they so demand that marriage is between a man and a woman. What is marriage, and what is happening to today's concepts of what works and what doesn't?

Good luck with your answers. I hope everyone can be loving in their responses. Today's key word is tolerance.

Definitely, gays marrying straights! Our Christianity-established society has normally valued appearances over substance. I recognize a number of homosexual guys who married females within the wish that they would drive themselves to be immediately, or got here from sheltered backgrounds wherein marrying a girl was once the one choice offered to them. Trying to brainwash a individual into being any one they are now not- to delight others- is a unique recipe for despair and loneliness, and as everyone knows, such negativity is unique to rub off on the ones round them. All resulted in divorce, a few extra amicable than others, all to the detriment of the youngsters. As for extending civil protections to homosexual households- there is no query that it is anything that society demands to deal with, both now or whilst it turns into a social crisis- like once we see extra households break up up or lose their properties whilst one accomplice dies, and we begin throwing seniors out at the streets given that they stayed at house to elevate their youngsters and haven't any entitlement to their lifestyles accomplice's social protection survivor advantages.

I have no problem with gays getting married or adopting kids as long as there is love in the household.

It's just another reason to *****. People always seem to need to find a reason to. I personally am glad that I was born in the USA, with the freedom to say what I want, think what I want, and other things that others aren't allowed to do.

And before anyone lumps all of the judgemental people into Republican Christian Freaks, I just want to let you know that 1- I am a Republican...I am proud of my freedom, and will fight to keep them, 2- I am Christian, and as a Christian, I feel like it's not my place to judge others, I am just responsible to spread the Word. and finally 3- I am just as freaky as the rest of you LOL!!!

Because marriage is a union under God.
Gay marriage is against God and it says this in the Bible.

But if they want to get married for legal reasons I guess its ok, its just not considered legitimate to God, and then the problem would be finding a preacher or priest to do the ceremony, since most won't.
Did you know that you don't even need a ceremony to be married, you can just sign the papers.

While I don't agree with you that homosexual people should be allowed to marry. Mine is for Spiritual reasons. As a minister we are forbidden from performing homosexual marriages and the reason being is it's an abomination according to the Word of God. God's word says that a Man and Woman shall become one. No where in God's word does it say a Man and Man should become one. As a matter of fact, it is something God himself does not approve of. Sodom and Gomorrah are an example of what God thinks about gays.

It's against the natural order of things. Read the Bible. God destroyed the cities of Lot(PBUH*) because the men were all homosexuals and having sex with each other. That's a good enough reason for me not to like Gays.

Not against gay marriage or adopting in the least- many kids (too many by far) have opp. sexed parents who are TERRIBLE.

'In fact, marriage would reduce the chance of infedelity as well. '

Gotta disagree with you there- marriage does not stop infidelity, in straights or gays.

that is how people were taught when they were kids. I dont care if lesibians/gays get married. it is their right and choice. I agree with adoption thing because it is giving a kid a loving and caring home.

i think people shouldn't be embarrased or bothered by thier sexuality. everyone is differnt and no ones perfect. this is the land of freedom, well if its so free, homosexuality should't matter and people shouldn't be judged by it.
