Most of the people here on Answers should wear helmets too, but apparently it wouldn't make any difference according to those Japanese pilots.
Oh, we are screwed aren't we............?

They really don't wear helmets it just a FlightCap that has in it Earphones so they hear what the Radio officer said's it just for talking with rest of the pliots and ground control station when taking off that all, as for suicide missions that was strictly Voluntary it was the pliots choice.
