Impromptu High School Poem:

High school is like a sunflower
It points me towards the light
It is my source of power
and it fills me with delight
I used to think in middle school
that all I knew was right
but when I came to high school
I found out I just might
escape into the sky,
and fly up like a kite
an absolutely academic ally
raised me to new heights
taught me how to think and read
and how to properly write
I can't wait till 22 years have fled
because then we'll reuninte!
yay!

I added 4 lines so you could edit it without having to write more. I thought the 'school is a jail' metaphor was too obvious, so I took a more sarcastic and hardcore approach.

As you know, a noun is a person, place or thing, so think a little harder. I copied a sample metaphor poem, which might give you some ideas. Good luck.

My high school is similar to a noun.

My family lives inside a medicine chest:
Dad is the super-size band aid, strong and powerful
but not always effective in a crisis.
Mom is the middle-size tweezer,
which picks and pokes and pinches.
David is the single small aspirin on the third shelf,
sometimes ignored.
Muffin, the sheep dog, is a round cotton ball, stained and dirty,
that pops off the shelf and bounces in my way as I open the door.
And I am the wood and glue which hold us all together with my love.

Metaphor= comparing two things WITHOUT using 'like' or 'as' -_-

High school is a computer. The teachers are the computer programmers while the students are the software that is being programmed that store the information given by the teachers.

It's like a mini-society. It has an elite which represents 10% of the student body, at the most (the populars), it has deviants (emos, goths, stoners), and it has smart students who do all the work and get none of the recognition (nerds). Then the rest are just those whom no one will ever remember (the "normal" kids).

Man, I miss high school.

High school is like a slice of cheese.
It can get old and moldy, but it can be rather delicious at the same time.

Childbirth.

At first is sucks like hell, but when the baby is born you'll notice it was all worth it in the end.

Like . . . maybe, a beehive? Maybe that better works for a classroom than an entire school, however.
