Did you inherit from a grandparent or parent? If you did you can fill out some paperwork that will allow you to keep the same tax base as the person you inherited it had.
I forget what the form is but I have had to do it twice.

I have one home inherited from my GrandMother that has a tax base based on what she bought it for in 1974... I think taxes are just over $400 a year.

Call your County tax office and ask them they will know what it is...

Hope This Helps

You really only have to find out what the taxes on the house were last year, and they will be just a little more this year. Go to the courthouse or contact them and just ask. They'll tell you.
All they need is the address. It's not a secret or a figure that is kept private in any way. I could do it from here. But you should do it yourself.

You will be taxed at fair market value. Proposition 13 only covers property owners that held the land when the proposition was enacted. You pay the full meal deal. Call the tax assessor's office tomorrow and ask what your taxes will be.

Property taxes are based on assessed value and have nothing to do with being paid off .
In addition to the % for the standard property tax ,
There seem to be a doz other fees tacked on . . .
Depending on what county you are in .

Go down to the county office if you want real answers .

Most California COunties have their tax assessor's records on line. Do an Internet search - like "Riverside, CA tax assessor" As long as you have the address, or preferably the Tax ID number on your paperwork, it should be easy to look the info up.
