hey im getting a laptop for my 16th birthday and i really want a macinstead of a pc. My sister got a mac at my age, but my mom wants me to get a pc like a sony or dell. And she thinks i only want it because of the free ipod nano that comes with it but the special offer ends today. Do you guys have any thing for me that i can use to tell my mom like information of pc laptops against macs. I know i appreciate her getting me one and how fortunate i am, but i would prefer a mac. She says it is for school, and my sister uses hers for college. And do you guys know if theres gonna be anymore promotions from buying the macs????

please and thanks everyone

her here are some good things about macs

Every Mac comes with iLife, a suite of software that transforms your photos, music, and video into all kinds of projects. Make high-quality websites, photo books, DVDs, songs, slideshows, music CDs, calendars, cards, prints, podcasts, music videos, documentaries, and more.

114,000 viruses? Not on a Mac.
Mac OS X was designed for high security, so it isn’t plagued by constant attacks from viruses and malware like PCs. Likewise, it isn’t plagued by never-ending security dialog boxes like those in Vista. So you can safely go about your work — or play — without interruption.

Still the most advanced OS.
No other operating system, Vista included, offers the rich features and simplicity of Mac OS X. And just as Vista tries to get closer (emphasis on “tries”), Mac OS X Leopard is right around the corner — ready to leap even farther ahead.

and most of all

Macs are mostly used for illiterations. I have worked at a newspaper and this type of work uses Macs. Most people use the others. When it comes to software there is a limited amount available for the Macs. I started on the PCs and had to use the Macs at the newspaper I hated it. I personally don't like the Macs. I do have friends who prefer them. I would suggest comparing the two and do a process of elimination. Pros and cons.

Tell your mom you don't want to have to fight the viruses and malware that PC's are so prone to. Mac's are not.
If you have to get a PC get a Dell the others are junk.
MacBook Pro Core2 Duo will run either WIndows or Max OSX.

Macs are much more secure because only a very small percentage of viruses and malware are designed for them.

Generally they are more reliable too.
