Yes, in Southern Arkansas near the Fouche area at Boggy Creek, there is the Boggy Creek Monster. He is a large ape/bear like Mannish creature that walks on 2 legs and can carry a 400-500 lb. animal over a regular size fence without breaking the fence. There is an 'old' (from the mid-70's movie) called "The Legend of Boggy Creek." Its based on actual events, but you wouldn't think so based on the bad acting, lol.
Its considered a Bigfoot/Yeti/Abdominable type creature and footprints have been taken.

Well,
Here in rural New Mexico, the belief in "La Llorona" (a type of banshee) is very prevalent. There are also plenty of sightings of luminous balls of light at night that are ascribed to witches. It is sometimes mentioned by older people that there are shape-shifters and little "people" who live under the ground.
