When I put a CD into my computer to view family pictures or even listen to music, it appears that there isn't a CD in my computer. I will then go to My Computer and there it still shows me that there isn't a CD in it. I can't afford to have it fixed so can someone tell me what is going on? Please!!!!

Either the cd drive is broken, not connected properly or it has been turned off in the BIOS. If appears in My Computer then I'm inclined to think it's broken.

You can get replacements on eBay for less than £5 if you hunt about.

If the CD is old try cleaning it might be that the drive can't be recognize due to unclean head of the CD so buy a cheap CD cleaner you can buy that at any computer shop

it look like a CD with brush in it that you just have to insert on your CD ROM then it will play.

then you can try to use your own real CD... if it still doesn't work then maybe there might be damage on your CD ROM

Could the CD possibly be blank? If it reads properly elsewhere, your CD drive is broken. CD drives are quite inexpensive, and if you can use a screwdriver, you can probably replace it yourself. There are at most 3 cables attached to the drive: IDE (big flat gray cable), power (4-pin molex) and maybe an audio cable with 3 or 4 pins.

it sounds like your CD rom drive went souht on you.

I had to force my door open to get a disk out after it wouldn't open when I pushed the button. It's still under warranty so I will need to get it fixed. My DVD drive still works though so I have something to back up on.

Your CD Drive is broken and is probably not fixable. Happened to me alot of times. Make sure you still have your warranty cause you'll probably need it. Sorry :(

your computer software may not be compatible with the type of cd you're putting in
or the cd tray thingy is dirty
