My husband and I are renting a house when we get there, but I have poor credit from my previous marriage, which is really hard to get cleared up, and my new husband has very good credit. We have been living together for over 2 years, and he has been buying a home for the passed 16 yrs. Is it that difficult to rent when one adult from the household has bad credit? Also I should mention. My husband is the one whom will have the employment, which I wont, so they will have to base that off his income rather then mine. I know that will play a factor, considering they will want to know how the house will be paid for.

I should elaborate a little. I didnt mean that I would not be working, but I don't have employement upon arrival. We have four children together, which means I work part time to cover some expenses along with my bills. I am trying to clear up my credit, just very slow while being a full time mother as well. My husbands income is the main source for our bills, mine is just extra to cover small expenses and raising the children.

It shouldn't be a problem. Be sure to give the details to whomever you rent from so they can feel comfortable and know you're not trying to hide anything.

If you do not plan to work ,
Then he should try to apply alone ,
Since you won't be helping out with any bills anyway .
Some landlords do not like this however ,
Because wives with bad spending habits / bad credit can cause delinquency and defaults on housing payments .

Some want to know what potential trouble they may be renting to .
Perhaps you should consider working and clearing up your bad credit ?
