In no longer then its probable the only Over Head Cam. yet differently to tell is inspect the exhaust. in the experience that your production facility exhaust has in basic terms one tip then its a SOHC. Anything is possible, however, what you want to do would require an engine redesign far more complicated than to design a whole engine. Not a weekend mechanic task, for sure.

no because the heads on a DOHC are bigger than a SOHC so the DOHC's wont fit where they bolt onto the block.
