Yesterday a stranger came to my door wanting my homeowners insurance, claims she fell on my sidewalk. No one saw her and she did not seek medical help. Plans to on Monday. There is a 5/8 inch uneven square on the walk. Just like about 20 on my street. Does anyone know if homeowners will pay. I'm almost thinking she is a scamer. Any ideas?

For your own protection, report it to the insurance company. This will give them an opportunity to investigate and determine if the claim has any merit.

I don't care whether you or everybody else who responds in Y! Answers thinks the stranger is a scammer, it is best to report it to your insurance carrier.

If she actually goes as far as hiring an personal injury lawyer and can prove her injuries and the fact that they resulted from a fall on your property, you will want to have your insurance company involved because they will represent you in court if they do not reach a settlement with her.

She IS a scammer ! Why was she on your property ? I`ll bet she can`t give you a valid answer to that question .

Keep a record of the dates and times she talked to you and the date /time this "accident" occurred . Other than that tell her to go to Hell , and call the cops if she ever contacts you again .

The dates can be VERY important if it comes down to a court case especially seeing as she contacted you days before "seeing a doctor" .

Just remember the city and or town(in most states) owns everything from a distance of eight feet(measuring from the curb)towards the house property. Where is the sidewalk in relation to that measurement ? Talk to your insurance agent if you need to be informed and get correct answers, about the lady falling and your rights.

She is a scammer. Take all her information (name, address, etc) then send her to hell and tell her your insurance company is going to press charges against her for insurance fraud.
