mice normally only stay in a place where there is a good source of food, so I can suggest this. Make sure you keep all foodstuff in tightly lidded containers, keeping food high up in cabinets, Wipe down your counters , empty your garbage bin , if you have pets remove their drinking dish and food dish , mice eat the smallest of crumbs ,so sweep the kitchen floor or vacuum. They come out at night looking for their supper,& if they can´t find food they will leave. Place traps at right angles to the wall with the treadle towards the wall To avoid catching your fingers, use a pencil to move the trap intp place. Use chocolate, cereals, nuts or even a strong smelling salami or spanish chorizo sausage, for bait. Fill any cracks and holes how ever small with cement or plaster reinforsed with wire wool. But the main thing is to keep all foodstuff out of their reach,

Buy some of that mouse bait that they eat. I think wal mart has it. Put the bait in places where you see the droppings. I once got infested and they were eating dried Indian corn that I had out for decoration. Make sure you don't have anything that they are snacking on. Keep everything as clean as can be, even the trash should be carried out at the end of each day. I would try to get some cats for outside, yes, this works, too!Thoroughly vacumn the room and put the bait out where you see the droppings. Move the beds and clean under everything. Even the closet floor. I found a million rat pills when I tore out my old cabinets. If you concentrate on getting rid of them, you can, but it won't be easy.

I like the wax bars with poison in them - green or blue with grain visible. They are waterproof so can be thown into crawl spaces, behind refrigerators, in back of cabinets and behind drawers. One negative is dogs like them and will chew on them, so keep them out of the way. I think you need to check with fumigation companies 1) because the stuff they use now may not stink for long and 2) I don't know if it works on mice, may only on bugs.
You might also check on whether the mice have a supply of water that is keeping them around.

first find where they are getting in and seal holes. clean and vacuum droppings. a shop vac is good for this. now you can go two ways. keep trapping like you are doing or poison. a lot of people don`t like poison because of the smell and fear pets will eat it. we use havoc brand on my farm and dead mice dry up and there is not much smell. just keep cleaning and remove any dead you can find.

Set mouse traps on newspaper. I use peanut butter instead of cheese to catch them. When its set wrap them up and put them in trash bags.
Please don't use rat killer. If the rat eats the poison and gets away and a neighbors cat eats it it will kill the cat.
