America is not "obligated" to do anything. What America has traditionally done is offer asylum to anyone anyone who would be in danger of repercussions from their government should they return.
For most of us, you don't have to go back too many generations to find that we descend from immigrants. My parent's fled Europe during WWII and were welcomed here with open arms, especially since my father was Jewish. My parents worked hard, raised 13 kids, operated a big farm and died young. They earned everything they got.
I understand your frustration - I've paid into Social Security for more than 30 years and it is estimated that I will never receive a penny because the system will by then, be broke. Illegal immigrants can come here, suck the hind tit of welfare and collect Social Security, even though they haven't paid into it, further guaranteeing that I shall never see a dime.
Yes - I understand your frustration

Democrat here, not a liberal, NOT a socialist.
No, you do not OWE them. The U.S.A. is the most charitable nation on the planet in history. Most years we donate more than the entire world combined.
We do not owe them. Those that choose to donate and give are going above and beyond what they owe.
Those who stand and claim, "You OWE us! You have MORE!" deserve nothing. No where in history or the in any part of the world can a person have so much upward mobility than in the United States, and they want to substitute a system with NO mobility? Everyone gets the minimum except the elite leaders (because of their difficult jobs, of course)?
Why does it degenerate into such a situation? Why would any person who creates wealth (wealth is not static, but is generated in many cases), i.e., the "rich" (no matter what their original social status, like Bill Gates) stick around just to have people legislate or nationalize their property away in a country that is supposed to protect the right to private property?
They don't.
They leave.
Standard of living drops continuously in a socialist country until the people have to be suppressed to keep them in line.
China, Russia, millions killed as dissidents for resisting the socialist paradise.
No, thank you. I support freedom, private property, rights (real ones, not "you owe me because I want it"), etc.
Not socialism.

The USA as such is not obligated to anything. But what the majority of the country wants is to be seen in a certain way by other countries. Part of that image that most want to project is a sort of paternal/big brother feeling towards struggling nations. So, in order to look good for Europe and Asia, we give aid to Africa. There are also questions of the moral guilt that most US citizens feel to some degree or another about being so well off while otyher people starve.
Personally, I don't feel guilty that I live in a prosperous, industrialized nation with lots of farmland. I say don't give any other country anything unless they pay for it. Maybe food or something if it's just goign to go bad and no one here wants it.
As far as immigration, that is a whole 'nother story for me. I think that the US should have totally free immigration, no restrictions. But with no gaurantees either. That is, any one is free to come, and starve here if they can't support themselves.

We have an obligation to care for our own citizens before anyone else's. I am sick of liberals who want the world to take over. They want to tear down what made us great. To liberals, equality means tearing down the successful to the level of the losers.

No, it most certainly does not.
"We the People of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA..."
Not we the people of the world - but, "We, the People of the United States of America..." Nothing more should need to be said.

I say you are way overworked about something. Are you implying the federal welfare program? You'll be happy to hear Clinton neutered it.

Yes Wellfares comes from states not from federal grant. eith both way come from Social Security they are not really open door to people from poor country espeically bush really denied those those people becuase he took money away from poor people to start a war. even he did not pay money to the hurricane victim in New Oreland so he is only spending money on wars. it is sad to say they are not open doors to anyone even in usa to give well fare so you pretty much have to stand up for your self to get well fare

USA is responsible for it's citizens and NO ONE ELSE. Why would we be? Makes sense I wouldn't expect to walk into Mecico and be taken care and be given their money.
