I think it all depends on the upbringing, what the parents have taught them, not all teens are like that, not mine anyway. It also has alot to do with what kind of people they hang out with which can be controlled by the parents to some extent.

Well, I agree that a lot of teens are disrespectful, but I wouldn't blame the parents for it because I have seen teens that are so much different at home then when they are with friends. They feel free to do or say whatever they want because the authority is not there. They know that strangers will most likely not say anything to them or if they do say something they don't have to listen. After all, they will never see these people again. Its all about trying to fit in with a certain crowd. Its nothing wrong with speaking out and nicely asking them to please refrain from using such language in front of your child. Some may not listen, some might. At least you will get your point across and they will probably feel ashamed and think twice the next time. That way you will be teaching your child how to be respectful and considerate of others as well (not saying that she doesn't already know), but at least she'll learn a lesson for when she starts hanging out with her friends without a chaperon.

P.S. I wouldn't advise punching out their teeth lol

I agree, the problem is hardly anyone speaks up. Sometimes when I am out with my boyfriend, he will tell them to watch their language or calm down. Usually if a complaint is made loud enough for the bus driver to hear then the bus drive will remove the kids from the bus. Sometimes it just takes one person to say "hey, you need to stop cussing around my kid and talking about oral sex." One of two things will happen, other adults will jump in to your aid, the kids will look stupid and say sorry and then stop talking so loud, or you can tell the bus driver that they are bothering you and like stated earlier the bus driver will either warn the kids or remove them from the bus. I am sorry that happened, its hard when we live in a society that takes the responsibility of raising responsible children into the hands of the education system, instead of the parents. Best of luck to you next time.

i know i might call a heat from all people...but to make todays teena respect other we have to do very radical things. i'm sorry folks if yout teenager or a child from 6-10 years old and cussing worst than a prostitute on the neighborhood corner or talking about sex, and have no damn respect for others you AREN'T doing you ******* JOB as parents. that's all

best way is example by parents. sometimes good kick in *** helps too.

I understand your anger at what I consider apalling behaviour but the thing is I have 5 teens and they do treat people with respect and know how to behave round very young kids that was because I showed them when they were younger.

not all teenagers are that rude and annoying...when i was a teenager i even hated the conversations and nonsensical babble they engaged in and opted to have no friends...
but there are a good group of teenagers out there but they are apart of the minority and not the majority...sadly...
I'm sorry your daughter had to hear the garbage that came out of those kids mouths...you should have glared at those kids and told them to have some respect for the others sitting on the bus who don't want to listen to their garbage...I'm sure others on the bus would have backed you up...

Teenagers are a product of society. We can't beat the crap out of them anymore. Also, television shows them Simpsons and Family Guy instead of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family.

Fret not though...their kids will treat them worse than they are treating you. Teens today have no clue of the word 'future'.
