A few years ago I took my down comforter to a dry cleaner and he said it is easier to wash it myself at the laundromat. He told me to use the largest washer they had, use powdered soap and powdered color-safe bleach. (Since I was getting out an odor he said to run it twice) It took about an hour in the dryer. Throw a couple tennis balls in the dryer with the comforter to help keep it from balling up. All in total, when I wash my comforter it costs about $8.00.

I DO wash mine in the washing machine on the gentle cycle, hot water and all. When I put it in the dryer, I add a few clean tennis balls so it will dry evenly.
