When you are sick your body and energy are not up to what they should be. Spells require the caster to be intune with the purpose of the spell and use quite a bit of energy! So when your sick often times you lack the necessary focus and enegry to do a spell proper. Sickness also creates bad negitive vibes in the body so it's hard to muster up the positive intentions needed for the spell. It's the same reason you should not do Magic while angry, upset, ect. Hope that helps!

I'm not Wiccan so I might not understand a lot of the complexitites, but that's not one I'd heard before.

I can understand the rationale behind it though: If one is stopped up, or has a fever, or is otherwise feeling yucky then I don't know as I'd want to send energy out when I could take that energy and try and help me get through my cold.

I can understand not doing energy work when in a bad mood for any reason - if I sent something out in a fit of anger or other emotion, I might not really mean it and could hurt that person - and me too in the process.

I think these are temporary things though. Because I have a disease that will never go away (I have Rhumatiod Arthriris) it would be to say I was not allowed to ever do any spell work again.

Again, I'm sure one of our Wiccan friends can expound.

Simply put your energy is down, you are not at your best, and your spell work may not be focused. When you do spells you need a certain amount of energy to do spells, depending on the spell. You need to raise a cone of energy and when you are sick you need to heal. All things come from the earth and when a plant is sick it cannot bear fruit. Neither can a Witch be expected to bear her best spell when she needs to be in Bed. For everything there is a time.

because you aren't at your best when your sick you also don't try spells when you are tired or sad, you aren't suppose to scry when you sick or tired either you are like out of tune and it could weaken you, wiccans don't do a very high form of magic so I don't think it would be a problem with them being sick , nothing against wiccans though It is a neat religon and they can do some really powerful stuff but some of the spells wouldn't like backfire if they are sick because some aren't as complex then others

When a witch is ill, they are not entirely there. They cannot focus their intent entirely. Half of the intent is there, the other is being spent on recovering from the illness. Can you really do, like, housework when you're sick? or run errands? No you would rather lay in bed recovering from being sick

I personally don't like to because of usually being tired. I never draw from my own energy when doing spells but I know that my focus is never as clear when I'm not well.

Your energy is depleated while you are sick and if you are very tired as well. You need to focus your energy to work a spell, so this could cause a problem.

I cannot cast positive energy when I'm not feeling well. As Feona said, the energy flow is disrupted.
