It comes across to Americans as pretty boing and foreign. The uniforms are also a real turnoff. Grown men in silly shorts and socks wearing ugly shirts. And the can't touch the ball with your hands but you are allow men to be hit in the head with the ball makes no sense. In the US soccer is basically seen as a non-contact sport for preteen girls to play

Most American guys think it is a sissy sport, but I have another theory.
When I was in high school we tried like hell to get soccer teams for the girls and guys. But we never succeeded because of the football coach. He wouldn't let it happen. He knew if we got a soccer team that half of his football team would leave to play soccer. They are afraid of it here in America because if it did catch on it may be bigger than football and basketball and baseball and I don't think the male American ego could handle that. So they tell each other that it's a "sissy" sport.
As far as it being a "slow" sport, I think it moves way faster than American football and baseball! I mean, have you been to a baseball game? Yawn.
One day though, it will be big here in the states. It's already happening. The media circus around Beckham coming to play here in the states has already gotten alot more people interested in the sport.

Because in America they look down on sports they aren't good at. If the US were to win the World Cup, then millions would jump on the soccer bandwagon.

A simple answer would be, it's way too slow-paced (read:boring) for American taste. Another answer could be that it's not 'macho' like our football and basketball and baseball. In any case, you can't say they haven't tried like hell to get soccer over in the U.S..It just isn't our game apparently.
