This is what I've heard from many women. From my understanding it's due to the rush of hormones that women experience during that time.
This is what I've been told by different women, I can't personally vouch for the exact reason because I'm a guy, but since many women have said the same thing I will say that it's a legit reason why they become so horny before, during and after their period.

I know I do! But it all depends on the woman, some do, some don't. It's hard to make any kind of broad generalization about female sexuality, because it's so individual. Also, it may well change throughout a woman's life. I know I didn't start experiencing serious pre-menstrual horniness before adulthood and, who knows, I may not experience it forever. Hormones generally change throughout a woman's life, with different effects on her body, the same way a woman may experience more cramping, or heavier or lighter periods during some times of life but not others.

Some do. It all depends on the woman. It all has to do with the horomone levels in her body. Some women get very horny before their period, and others do not want anything to do with sex.

Yes about 8 - 10 days before- that's because we're ovulating. That means releasing the egg that wants to be fertilized. it's natures way of trying to propagate the species. some of us get horny during our period too.
