my boyfriend has a 91 bronco II that he had rebuilt (engine, transmission, EVERYTHING is new). he was driving it home from work one day (about 2 months later) and it cut off while he was driving. when he tries to crank it, it just makes a clicking sound.

any ideas to what may be wrong??

Bad alternator, and dead battery.

First...It cant be a Starter solenoid, Starter solenoids will prevent a car from starting but it wont cause it to shut off while driving. Check body grounds, check the battery and see if its dead, You could try jumping it, If it dies again after its jumpstarted you have a bad alternator or a bad connection.

Replace the battery if it's 5 years old or more and the Starter solenoid switch. Also remove and clean the battery cable terminals.
