my opinion there is a great lack of respect in the world today I was always taught to treat people like I like to be treated it would be a wonderful world if people would just think of this when they are with others everyone should be independant but also look out for their fellow man nice thought don't u think!!

you should make sure you surround yourself only with people who are positive, supportive, caring and balanced. If not, then you have the wrong friends. Family can be the worst if you're unlucky, so you have to make sure you compensate for an unsupportive family by having friends who are just the opposite.

I have been in your situation but not for a long time because I made some changes to my choices of friends.

If you're talking about govt, customer services, banks or companies that operate as businesses then generally you're absolutely and totally right as they care only about the dollar and not the person.

If you are religious your priest or pastor will always listen and try to help.
parents and family are too quickly written off. They are a lot more understanding and less judgmental than you expect them to be, They love you.
Teachers and year heads will also endeavour to help those in their charge.
Close friends of longsanding will always listen, they will try to help but if you are not yet adult they may not have enough experience to give the soundest advice.
For those with no friends, no family, no religion, there are paid counsellors who will also do their best to guide you to make the best decision for yourself.

Lucy, that is not true. One has to know where to find help, it does not always come to you. let's face it, there aren't too many good Samaritan vans traipsing roads looking for those in need. One has to swallow their pride and ASK and keep asking until you get the help you need. It won't always come in the form of a blank cheque, or even the way you'd think it would but it is there!

Maybe they have problems of their own. Somethimes it's too much work just sorting out your own life to try and sort out someone elses too.

I can depend on my church family every time, as well as friends and family outside of the church, so I guess I'm sorted.
