I to hemorrhaged after my 3rd home birth (4th child). My midwives were very prepared and handled it very professional. Since then I have had another home water birth without any problems. I am still planning on my last birth being at home.

First you need to find a different midwife. I would write down all your questions ahead of time so as to not forget anything. Ask about how many home deliveries they have attended?
How Long have you been practicing?
What would you do should complications arise?
What kinds of medication do you carry and can you carry legally?
Do you bring Oxygen?
What about Pitocin should a hemorrhage happen?
If she is not allowed to carry Pitocin, what would she do to control the bleeding? (It's not legal to carry in some states)

Many women who have had a c-section and insisted on a Vback (Vaginal birth after c-section) have been able to with a competent midwife. Most of all. be totally honest with your new Midwife. the more information you give her the more she will be able to help you have a wonderful Homebirth.

(P.S. I've also had one hospital Birth with my 3rd baby.... that is why I went right back home for my 4th and 5th children.)

You might want to find a better midwife first. Try to find a direct entry midwife, not a hospital based "medwife" and tell her your history. A true professional would not put your life in danger and will give you a far more balanced view than a medical doctor; who will, of course, want to treat you like a patient even though you are not sick.

You may also want to go to the homenirth board on http://www.mothering.com/discussions and ask around there!

Nope. It would not be in your best interests. It isn't because she left the placenta in your womb. Your womb should have expelled that and it did not. I'm an advocate for homebirth, but I would say you are just too risky.

I would not take the risk with your history. It is not worth the risk to your health or to the health of your baby. Once someone has a bleeding problem that puts them at high risk. Best to stick to the hospital.

The midwife did not do her job, so I would find a better midwife.

Midwives are trained to handle postpartum hemorrhage. Just ask about that specifically when you're interviewing. :)
