Okay, let's take a look at our patriotism over the years:
We depend on foreign countries for most of our bare necessities such as oil, gas and almost half of our national products. We buy mostly imported automobiles, our clothes are made in sweatshops all across the 3rd world, CHINA makes probably 80% of what we use in a day. Here in Michigan we tell Canadians that they don't need to dump their own garbage in their own country, we have a president who keeps constant communication with the country that helped fund and attack our country( Saudi Arabia ) whose father happened to fund the same terrorists we now call "insurgents " when he was director of the CIA. We have troops, who the only time probably seen an Iraqi was when they pumped gas and paid for it , are dying over in a country that is heading to civil war . And on top of that didn't all these hate groups that we've had here WAY before "Al Qaeda" became a household name, truly define "terrorism" after our own civil war?

We love to believe that patriotism means love of our home over everywhere else, that we're suddenly better and self sufficient. It's sad that being patriotic has become an absolute necessity for a "true American." That's not the way our country acts as a whole, but for some reason we all have to act that way anyway. That's why I view patriotism a little differently. I see it as a willingness to improve one's country and population, because that's what the real patriots of the Revolutionary War aimed to do.

The most patriotic thing one can do is realize they are being lied to and take action. Disobedience to national leaders that manipulate people for their own gains and their whims is the most patriotic thing one can do for their country.

I support the Constitution, the Republic and the nation.
Can't say much for the present president, his war or party.

I have seen that patriotism leads to fierce nationalism, which makes people ignorant, which leads to illegal wars, which (etc.) I'm not worried about it... Btw, great backup of facts!

I'm not worried. I don't care what people think of me when it comes to my life. I was born here, I like it, and I do what I can to make life better for me and those around me....my community!

I do not worry about it. Dissent and having checks and balances for our leaders is as patriotic as it gets.
